Phu Quoc tourism sees vertical growth, bringing in huge revenue
02/08/2025
In the first seven months of 2025, Phu Quoc's tourism revenue increased by more than 93% compared to the same period. The stable growth rate across months is gradually eliminating the concept of peak and off-peak seasons, sending a positive signal to investors in services such as restaurants, accommodation, and tourism experiences...

According to a report from An Giang Province Tourism Department, in the first seven months of 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed over 5.2 million visitors, a 31.8% increase year-on-year. International visitors reached nearly 980,000, a significant 74.1% increase. Tourism revenue across the region reached 24,866 billion VND, up 93.6%.
Meanwhile, from May to July 2025, although considered the international low season, the number of foreign tourists visiting the island still reached over 350,000, with an average increase of nearly 80% per month compared to the same period in 2024. The international tourist market, a pillar of Phu Quoc's long-term growth, is gradually stabilizing throughout the seasons, with key markets such as South Korea, China, India, and Europe showing increasing numbers.

Recently, according to a report from Agoda, a leading online booking platform, Phu Quoc ranked second on the list of favorite destinations for South Korean tourists, after Nha Trang, and third in the choice of resorts for Chinese tourists.
The latest report from Phu Quoc International Airport shows similar results. Accordingly, in the first six months of this year, the number of Chinese tourists entering Phu Quoc increased by 472% year-on-year, tourists from Russia and CIS countries increased by 311% year-on-year, and South Korean tourists increased by 178%. In addition, there are impressive growth figures from the Thai and Malaysian markets…
The stable growth rate, even during the low season like July, shows that the international and domestic seasonality of Phu Quoc is gradually fading, creating favorable opportunities for service investors such as accommodation, restaurants, and tourism experiences to approach the market more sustainably.

He also said that Phu Quoc is currently very popular on Naver, South Korea's search engine, with detailed guides and interesting suggestions on dining, entertainment, and especially resorts. “Phu Quoc is meeting all the needs that South Korean tourists are looking for,” he said.
Phu Quoc and the future of becoming a global tourism “hub”

Along with the plan to upgrade infrastructure to serve APEC 2027, Phu Quoc International Airport is being upgraded and expanded to increase capacity to 20 million passengers/year, aiming to become a leading modern international airport in the world. The island's internal transportation system, coastal roads, new tourism urban areas, and conference centers are also being planned and implemented synchronously. An Thoi International Passenger Port is being upgraded to receive large cruise ships, while the waste and wastewater treatment systems and digital infrastructure are being gradually improved. All are revealing a prosperous picture of Phu Quoc's tourism industry.
Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy - Director of Duy Nhat Dong Duong Tourism Company, a travel agency specializing in ASEAN tourists, commented that in just a few years, the appearance of Phu Quoc has changed dramatically thanks to hundreds of investment projects from large corporations, especially with the collaboration of Sun Group and a series of world-famous brands such as: Marriott, Accor, Hilton, Rosewood, Rixos, The Luxury Collection or Ritz Carlton Reserve… have made Phu Quoc a tourist paradise for both domestic and international tourists.
Along with the increasingly complete and synchronous infrastructure system, the construction of special mechanisms for the economic-administrative special zone is also being promoted, creating a favorable environment for investment and service development. With this foundation, Phu Quoc is fully equipped to soon become a regional tourism hub, not only attracting international tourists but also leading the trend of high-class resorts and experiential tourism in Vietnam in the near future. And greater new opportunities are opening up, not only for tourists but also for far-sighted investors.
